Last entry I forgot to mention Junior's 18 month checkup with the doctor. He did not like it one bit. As soon as we tried to measure his height on the table, he started crying and fighting. We couldn't even weight him on the baby scale, but Daddy had to hold him on the adult scale and subtract his own weight. Needless to say, his measurements were not accurate. According to this visit's numbers, Junior is 33.5 inches tall and 28 pounds. That's only a 0.25 inch growth in height but almost 3 pounds in weight. He's looking less chubby than his 15 months appointment, so we think he's probably a little taller than what was measured for his height but a little less than what was weighed on the scale. Whatever the case may be, he's still growing well according to his growth chart even with the less than accurate numbers.
These days his vocabulary is increasing at a surprisingly high rate, and he's articulating his words better too. He's starting to string a few words together into sentences, although for the most part he just says single words. He loves the next door neighbor's dog Chip, and whenever he's outside, he'll run over to the fence to call out her name. He's pretty consistent about saying "hi" and "bye" to people, although he often doesn't say it until they're out of earshot.
As for favorite activities, he loves to pick up rocks and sticks and wood chips and flowers.... and he loves putting them into the trunks of his buggy and train. If he sees a flower on a bush that he wants, he'll say "want one" and point. After you pick it for him, he'll tap on his trunk and say "put it in" and he'll drop it in the trunk. By the end of our walk he has a trunk full of flowers and rocks and other scraps that he finds along the way.
Mother's day was during this month. Junior gave Mommy a nice piece of artwork that he made with Daddy. He was also very eager to tell Mommy "Happy Mother's day!"
