To see Grandmas and Grandpas

Last month the whole family took a trip to visit the grandparents in the east coast.  The flights were challenging, but everyone had such a great time that it was well worth the trip.

We spent most of the time over at MaMa and YeYe's house off the water.  The weather was mostly nice, so Junior was able to enjoy some time outside with YeYe.  They made sand castles on the beach, played catch in the front yard, and fed the swans that made a nest in the backyard.

Swans are large birds.

Grandparents love to spoil their grandkids.  YeYe was able to get Junior to cooperate on numerous occasions by bribing him with cheesecake.

yummy
We think Junior's favorite part about the house though (after MaMa and YeYe of course) is all the grownup tools that YeYe left available for Junior to explore.   YeYe let Junior use the electric drill, the socket wrenches, screwdrivers, etc.

We skype with YeYe and MaMa pretty often now, and whenever we do, Junior has to mention the tools that he sees in the background.  "Are those your tools, Grandpa?"  or "Is that your drill, Grandpa?"

DT didn't get to play with the tools much, but he still had fun at his grandparents' house.  He really started getting mobile and standing up much more while we were there.   He learned how to climb up the stairs and could stand up and clap without leaning on anything.

He can say a few sounds that are pretty close to the words that we use for clapping, touching, birds, and airplanes.  He will also consistently say "haaa" and wave to you when you come home, or say "baaa" and wave to you when you leave.

Happy Easter 2014

Junior participated in his first Easter egg hunt this year.  It was a low-key event hosted by his buddy KS at his house.  There were only 3 kids who hunted for eggs, so Jr got more than his fair share of goodies.

DT was too little to join in on the hunt, but he didn't mind.  He had fun watching the others search for eggs.  He also really enjoyed watching the chickens roaming around.
